The only season where I never missed a game home or away.
The Brighton away game still haunts me.

That was absolute robbery.

Sadly missed.
Best ever quote when talking about an opposition player...... He goes down quicker than my wife. Funny funny guy. Did well with fuck all money, on the other hand, at other times did fuck all with fuck all money.
Top bloke.

The Brighton Play-off game was the worst footballing memory I have. Having played so well that night and being seconds from Wembley....... You know the rest, but I loved watching that team King put together. He wasn't the best manager ever, but he so nearly got us promoted.

RIP

Best Andy King interview has to be when Shaun Hodgetts rang him at home on a Thursday night in May 2001 when Bristol Rovers had blown their games in hand and we were safe.

Andy was clearly pissed off his head and slurring his words which gave an interesting interview with Shaun. From a different era and generation was Andy and one of our longest serving managers.

I remember at a preseason friendly (Aylesbury i think), one of the people i was with asked him if he had been working out over summer as he was a bit thinner, he said 'no, its just the AIDS' then proceeded to nick my mates lighter.

The final was at the Millennium Stadium, Cardiff.

Yes, I was at Brighton too. The thunder and lightning before the game being stuck up in the air on that temporary Open Golf type stand.

Oops, you are right.

I wasn't at Brighton, I was watching from a bar in Edinburgh but was devastated when we lost, possibly remains the lowest I have felt watching Swindon.

Will never forget after the 1-1 draw with Hartlepool which cemented both our play off positions.
He called for me, my Brother and my Mate to join him in his office.
Fridge door open we drank a few beers with him, shook hands with Cooper the Hartlepool Manager at the time and their Directors.
So many treasurable moments I had with Kingy and feel devastated tonight that he is no longer with us. Feel for his Wife and family.
He was "old school" and played with arrogance, fun and a smile on his face. He never lost that in his Managerial career and his Mum would always tell him off after his interviews "Andrew" Smiley
He never did refine his interviews, he couldn't. Loved his stories of his days at Everton.
The world loses one of those 70's players where wine, women and song was the norm. Money was realistic and the relationship with the Supporters was close.
He knew that he was unpopular with a vast majority of fans at Swindon but what he did whilst having Diamandis influencing the Budget, was bringing in some real talent on a small budget.
It was the time though off the field I will remember him fondly for.
God bless you Andy King, thanks for everything and RIP.
