Seeing the list of winners I was surpised to see that in our championship winning season of 85-86 we had no players named yet we won the league with a record points total.

All that kick 'n rush stuff!

We didn't score hatfuls of goals, just steamrollered teams.

Why you shouldn't use google and Wiki....as stated, Don was in 73/4 the first year of the vote whilst at Palace..

We could have had hours of fun with this...

Interesting that we had 4 players in the list for 1991-92, a season in which we finished 8th.  A similar position to the one we will finish in this season, with no representatives.  I'm sure the fact that the national press were waking up to Hoddle's sexy passing game must have helped.

Also interesting that we didn't have a single player in the list from the 15 year spell from 1996-2011.  A dire period in the club's history from which we are hopefully now emerging.

Cox should have won it the year he was top scorer. Austin never completed a full season for us.

I can imagine all those players making the selection, all except one that is. Gary Emmanuel? Really?

It does seem bizarrre, but the vote is taken around January I think....82/83, we were going well just into the new year, first time in Div 4, and Emmanuel was the old head in a young side playing some exciting football....not unlike this season, it then fell apart on norvern mud heaps in Jan/Feb, when the grind starts to effect young legs and minds.

Like this season fans started to get on the young players backs at the CG and confidence rapidly goes. 82/83 it cost JT his job; Cooper managed to just avoid the incipient mong led out chorus....because this season as 82/83 performances picked up again when a hint of spring in the air.
