Smith vows to silence the boo boys

MICHAEL Smith is hopeful he’ll be able to win his County Ground critics over but if he can’t he’s determined the boo boys won’t affect his mental state.

Fucking mongs

We all know his limitations but 7 goals in 17 games says a fair bit. Small sample yes but that a pretty good ratio

I've got a couple behind me who get on his back.

Don't know what they expect to achieve

I'm not going to apologise, I've had the odd moan under my breath. But I mainly feel sorry that he's being asked to do a lone strikers role when its not he's not suited to it.

That's vastly different to shouting verbal abuse at him which I noticed on Friday

Yeah he frustrates, he may not be suited to the role but having a first touch is a pretty basic requirement. He works hard though and when he does get his foot on the ball he usually brings others into play pretty well.

True.
Agree completely though, he's massively frustrating to watch and couldn't trap a ball with a big ol' fishing net

Agree he's frustrating but 7 in 17 is a good return as its his first go at this level. Given he's mainly played up front on his own he's done pretty well. The first touch is shite but some of his passing is excellent - to Storey v Sheff Utd and Byrne v Brentford. If Pritchard had made those passes some Town fans would have been knocking one out.
And he gives 100% every game. Despite the boos he doesn't hide.

I think he's shit at the role he's been asked to play, but that's not his fault. He's obviously a decent enough goalscorer, but he doesn't strike me as a 'modern' striker.

Would never boo him though. Have you ever listened to yourself when you boo? The noise that you make? It's fucking moronic

There was less moaning at him but the usual groans at his first touch.

The 7 in 17 stat is fine, in the box he's decent. Its his work outside the box that isn't good enough. He could also do with working on his upper body strength as he gets pushed about too much for my taste.

Not sure about the lone striker role not suiting him, a 1st touch better than that of a wall is a bit of a prerequisite regardless of how many you are going to play up front.

That said, with his workrate and instict in the box there may be a good player in there given his age. But he needs to improve.
