I was a bit indifferent towards him at first, but Jay Mac has grown on me a lot, it must be said. He can't put a ball in from open play to save his life (although somehow OK from set pieces), but he's generally solid defensively and has a great attitude.

I know I bang on about him a bit, but he reminds me a lot of Jamie Vincent. Steady if unspectacular with the ball, solid defensively and a good organiser of others.

I only rated Vincent after he left and I realised that we missed him. Solid and unspectacular so very much like McEveley in that regard.

We've had a few real good left backs over time

Bodin, Kerslake, Rod Thomas

My choice of best must go to Bodin. Not many full backs score that many goals

Rambo and Phil King were left backs.

Is this meant to be sarcasm, because our coach by proxy was a right back.  In the classic 85/86 season, we started without a left back...the likes of Leigh Barnard and Charlie Henry filling in, then we got the very decent Nicky Coleman on loan from Millwall.

When he went back, we got Paul Roberts, who had been with Millwall and Brentford, bit limited, but ran around kicking people which was always useful in 80's Div 4.
