Swindon is Macca's first choice

SWINDON Town would be Alan McCormack’s preferred destination in 2013/14, but only on the right terms.

Its interesting that his agent has been negotiating with Lee Power who as far as I know has no official role in the club...yet.

I thought this.... If he hasn't passed the fit and proper persons test is this allowed?

Shouldn't mean that he can't do work for the club, only affects being a director I think.

Really can't see Macca being here next season anyhow.

He says he won't take a pay cut and has other options. Young sides need leaders and I hope we pull out all the stops to keep him. Macca is worth 2 unknown kids

But would probably cost the same as 4, 5 or more of them.  Just can't see the budget being available for any more high earners.

We are saving 3k a week now ferry is gone and he is club captain so worth offering him a decent contract i'd have thought?

Indeed on both counts. It's a shame but has to happen, he won't be the last to go either.

Gut feeling is...Reduced offer-rejects-moves. Could see others do this too.

Gut feeling is McCormack or Agent considers offer not enough and tries to force clubs hand in the press.

Think Storey will sign...N Thompson, possibly...Flint I'd be surprised.

Doesn't Flinty have to accept on the basis that we've invoked the extra year or have I got that wrong?

Depends what the terms of the extension are I suppose. As he came from non-league, I can't imagine that the terms for the extra year would break the bank. They may want to negotiate a totally new 2-3 year deal I suppose.

I fully expect him to be here next season.
