Sounds like a few of you just need waxing strips Smiley

Mach 3 for me, I need to shave daily.

I worship at the temple of Gillette Fusion. I've tried everything else but haven't found anything as good.

Pah! Beard trimmer all the way for me.  Can't recall my last wet shave, must've been a good three or four years back. Go married in that time as well.

People using electric should try a pre-shave. Boots do one and it's very cheap. Smell is quite strong but shower afterward and it goes.

Buy a double edged safety razor. I recommend an Edwin Jagger, which is what I use.

They take a few shaves to get used to, but they're closer than any gilette shit and I buy blades off eBay. You get 100 for less than a £10 and they last longer too.

Another thing to do, is try rubbing the razor backwards up your arm about 20 times - works like a strop.

Oh one of these.

Or this:

And try some Taylor's of Old Bond Street soap and a badger hair brush. Cheap, smooth as fuck and last for ages.

I've got one of the Edwin Jaggers, it's great, but I don't like the Derby blades, I use Red Personnas (same as Tesco own brand).

I think the main issue is not the razor but the preparation, washing your face with soap and really hot water first and/or using a hot flannel/towel like the barbers do makes a lot of difference, softening the beard.

Using a proper shaving soap or cream is also an improvement, Palmolive cream in a tube is still widely available and cheap. Taylors is great stuff, but Body Shop also sell the same cream and a reasonable cheap synthetic brush.

The razor is not so important, I've had the same or better results from a single blade Bic disposable as I get from a Gillette Fusion or whatever, provided I've done the prep above.

Can a mod not change this to the Male Grooming Thread?
