Kind of depends what you mean by stone age....there's such a time span between the palaeolthic and the neolithic, and a serious disparity in how living was achieved.

Thomas Hobbes, who is up there in anyone's list of top 10 Wiltshiremen....reckoned that without society, life was, solitary, poor, nasty, brutish and short.

Is it any better than a fish & rice cakes diet? Although the fish & rice cakes diet does seem tricky to follow:

Whilst not completely Paleo, I've changed my diet to something similar. I've seriously cut down on the amount of processed food I eat. It's definitely helped to shift the fat it's also completely changed my well being, I do feel much better without all of the processed crap.

If you were experiencing pain then I think you must have been going quite wrong somewhere. Or perhaps you were eating loads of processed shit before and the new, more raw, natural, diet was a shock to your system. The Paleo thing is all about going back to what humans are naturally evolved and supposed to eat, getting away from anything we struggle to deal with scientifically, so it shouldn't hurt you at all.

I've got the book, the Paleo Solution by Robb Wolf, and read some last night actually. I'm not fat at all, just interested in how I can improve the quality of what I eat. Also met an ex-banker whilst travelling who was 35 but looked 25 at the most, and was absolutely stacked - he was on the Paleo diet too, when at home.

I think the adver is a bit wrong in their article though, they say "With treats like ‘poisonous’ chocolate at an absolute minimum and alcohol a no-go". The bit I read last night had a line about how it is fine to go to the supermarket and pick up some 75% cocoa chocolate and a bottle of red wine. Cider is fine too, as it's from apples. Beer is from grain, so that's a no-no.

A low carb diet acts as a diuretic and often people will get muscle cramps through dehydration as a result. But yeah, CR is doing it wrong because you read it in a book by a bullshit doctor eh?

No, I thought he may have been doing something wrong because I experience no pain. The other guy I know who sticks to the philosophy 100% and has done it for 6 months hasn't had any either.

Since he was talking about supplements, like spirulina, it may have been a different diet because Paleo doesn't mention supplements from what I have read.

Besides, what's this about a "bullshit doctor?" The guy who wrote the book on paleo is an ex-biochemist.

He isn't a medical doctor, nor does he have a PhD. He's taken an old idea, championed it and made a shit load of money from it. Bullshit doctor.

I get very irked when people on fad diets jump on an opposing view so I do the same back.

The ideal diet consists of fish, chips and a tin of pop.

You should go and find someone on a fad diet jumping on an opposing view then.

Darren Ward was on BBC Wiltshire this morning about this, as was the principal dietitian from St George's hospital in London. Dietitian says it is a rubbish diet and was concerned about Ward's diet.

She mentioned low calcium and his previous injuries. Personally I think it is probably a good diet, but not a complete one. Was a really interesting programme.
