What an awful load of old shite the Women’s Euros are.

As of today, there appears to be only one potential winner which is Spain of course.  They seem to be years ahead of the rest. There are huge difference betweem the men's and women's game, including lack of closing down giving ample shooting opportunities. Women's teams are becoming more proficient and skillful, but it is easier just to accept that the men's and women's games are different although they are subject to the same laws.  I enjoy the effort and team spirit of the women's game but am not sure that VAR is neccessary, the games are much slower. The views of rural Switzerland are stunning, worth watchung the games just for that.

I’m not comparing them to men’s football. As a stand-alone spectacle it is very poor fare. Low in quality and excitement.

The last Euros were better. For all the extra exposure and money involved it seems to have gone backwards.

I think to a point you're probably just comparing the group stages of this tournament with the latter stages of the last one. The depth definitely isn't there, the bad teams are really very bad. We'll see how it goes when Spain play someone good (perhaps not England!).

I would agree with that, most teams don't look as capable as last time, for example Norway seemed to be not as good but have won two games so far suggesting overall a lower standard in the tournament.

Would imagine the WSL teams and women’s teams in general here are terrified of England getting dumped out in the group stages. Would likely lead to a significant decrease in interest in women’s football in this country and not help with them trying to force artificial growth.

I've watched a little bit of the euros so far. I was very impressed with the French, who beat us very handily despite the scoreline. The end to the Switzerland game the other day was fun, nice for the hosts to get something to cheer about. Spain are clearly on another level, and England will have to be much better against the Dutch to avoid going out at the group stage, which would be sad to see, but it is starting to feel a little 'end of an era' for this group of players.
