Ive realised, in my grand old middle age, that I had some sort of body image problem when I was a teen.  I always thought I was a lardarse but now looking back at pics from then I was a skinny beanpole.  Then I buggered up me knee, carried on drinking in earnest and piled on the lard.

My mid life crisis is in full swing Im trying to get back into some semblance of shape.  Been going to the gym, when I can, for the last year and a half and trying to eat better.

That myfitnesspal thing is really useful, as is just writing an honest diary of what goes in yer mush everyday.  You'd be amazed how much you eat and how much you just forget you're eating.

In answer to the original question, any cardio exercise from walking to rowing, added to eating more healthily, cutting down on carbs and fats will make a big dent in your stores of fat.

Mind you Im still 17.5 stone with an excess of fat in the stomach department, but I do feel Im going in the right direction.

Sounds like you're on the right track Saxondale. Seems like half the people I know are using that myfitnesspal thing these days - one of my work colleagues tried to warn everyone here that it's just a big marketing scam to gather loads of information about people's eating habits they could then sell on to supermarkets. Until someone pointed out that it would be a self-selected database of the fat, middle-aged and self-obsessed which might not perhaps be Tesco's core target market Smiley

Lets have a race!

Im 17stone  10 and 1/2 Shocked

How's it going Yeo? Weighed in a 16st 13 this morning, which would be a 7lb loss.  Bit sceptical the scales are wrong Smiley But I've been living on a lot of Batchelor's pot shots for lunch as they only area about 170 cals, plus cut down take away a lot.

Trying to, not been out much in the last month but the mudguards are useful! Must get back in the saddle, so to speak.

Mudguards?! Wimp. Getting muddy is the fun bit. Should've seen the state of me when I got back from my jaunt up The Ridgeway last Sunday Smiley

My weight pretty much stayed the same during October because I had a few weeks off the bike. Dropping again now I'm back to putting the miles in.

This weight loss is going to cost me a small fortune in new clothes though.

I've lost nearly 2 stone. Clothes are a nightmare! But good to find in the bargains/sales though as most people can't fit into them!

Yeah, sure. You're first in at old folks' clothes stalls at the jumble sales, aren't you? Fess up!
