Can't comment on the Cube but, as a part time sales droid at a shop that sells Trek, I can say that the DS3 is a very capable machine.

Thanks, I'll very likely get a DS3. The only thing that could sway me is that the Cube has lights with a dynamo.

A dynamo light rig is a very useful bit of kit but, make sure it has a stand light feature as you don't want the lights to go out on you when you stop at traffic lights etc.

Quick one for you mechanics out there,

I have got a clicking/creaking noise when pedaling, my first thought is bottom bracket is on its way out (although I know from experience trying to find source of noises in frame is a pain in the arse), however the funny thing is that the noise disappears if I hammer the pedals out of the saddle?

Any ideas?

I've got the same issue but am too lazy to play around with it. If i were to, i'd:
1. Grease your skewers
2. Check your your chain for a quicklink, and see if that's knocking on your front derailleur

My other wonder was a chain slap on the derailleur, there is no quicklink and I have given the chain  good clean but it has happened before and cleaning chain sorted it that time so maybe a further de-grease.

Yeah maybe just a really deep clean and a good lubing

I've had a creaky saddle in the past which presented in a similar fashion, try some lube on the rails/clamp.

Seat post out and lightly grease.
Lightly grease saddle rails.

Both are probably dry.

(If the clicking disappears when out of the saddle, start your investigation there).

That was my phase 2 thought, I had tightened the seat clamp as it was to hand but will do the rest today as I have to get the work stand out anyway as I have stabilisers to fit to the little persons first real bike!

So a while ago I was given a Ribble Carbon TT frame with a busted fork along with a few other bike bits and bobs.

Actually the fork isn't busted - but it has a carbon steerer that a stem has been over tightened on causing enough damage to make it potentially unsafe to use. Ribble aren't allow to sell their own forks individually (EU regulations) so thats one plan scuppered.

So........the question is what do I do ?

I'm a little unsure as to buying 2nd hand carbon forks on ebay/gumtree. Any new forks within my price range look genuinely shit. I could risk a repair - one company said they'd give it a go and one company declined. Or go for cheap foreign imports.
