Trying to upgrade my very old Marin Muir Woods with a 'new' second hand model. Been the bridesmade not the bride twice now on ebay  There is a rather nice Orange Crush on there I'm watching. Hmm, its in Froome and its > £500 already. How to sell it to the Mrs.... Batch - Sunset bikes are doing the Orange Clockwork that I've just ordered for an extra 10% off, so £765 |

Damn it, every time I look "if I just spend a bit more I could..."
This is the issue every time You are coming up to the launch of next years bikes - it you wait until August/Sept the prices will come down a lot. The biggest issue for me was that I'd upgraded my 15yr MTB over time so to get an newer but equivalent spec bike I was looking at close to a grand - absolute ball ache. |

That looks ace, really tempted to get a new bike, had mine about 8 years now and it's looking and feeling tired. Was tempted with a hybrid but never ridden one. |

Thats got Rockshox Air forks and pretty much all Deore drive chain. If it had been black and orange I'd have bought it  |

Anywho, what are peoples views on 29ers. Not sure I can bring myself to get clown wheels myyself..
27.5"/650B or 29" wheeled bikes have an advantage over traditional 26" wheeled bikes when ridden on the road or hard pack/ loose surfaced trails as they hold speed much better. They also deal with obstacles such as roots across the track or holes/ dips etc. as, due to their larger diameter they either climb the root at a shallower angle or drop less into the hole so therefore again maintain speed. 26" wheeled bikes remain better at dealing with tight twisty trails- slalom ski style as they are a bit more agile. They jump and fly better as well. Trek decide between 29" and 27.5" depending on frame size and, IMHO Trek have nailed the larger wheel format. Declaration of interest- fuzzy works in a Trek stockist. |
