Bastille Day, shortened stage (i.e. even more people crammed into the last few kilometres) so I guess it was always going to be busy.

At least they made the only sensible decision with regards to time gaps, as Adam Yates said afterwards, it would have been wrong to get the Yellow Jersey in that way

One for the home mechanics.

Dual pivot shimano brakes, and they are not releasing properly when I release the lever and thus rubbing slightly. I have lubed the pivots and also run some oil down the cables and still not doing what they should any other suggestions?

How new are the cables (both inner and outer)?? I had similar issues solved but completely replacing both. Friction is your enemy.

Last year my rear mech wasn't functioning well despite 2 new cables so I changed the outers and hey presto it was fine.

Failing that there are videos on line how to dismantle and clean the brakes themselves.

As old as the bike so probably 4+ years, bugger I was hoping to avoid faffing around with cables!
