What makes it more impressive still is that 5 years ago you'd have found a post-industrial wasteland there. I took a walk through that area about 10 years ago. Had (and still have) a book of London walks and decided that day to take the train up from Wimbledon, where I was living, to do a 13 miler through the East End. Stacks of history - Victorian pumping stations built like cathedrals, canals I never knew existed winding through back streets - but the area as a whole was largely derelict and pretty much bypassed by public transport. The legacy thing is really important. The area used to be a black hole...surrounded on all sides by suburbs and parks. Now it's a proper part of London. Very impressive.
Love it....incidently there are canals galore tucked away in London...usually in and arounf Industrial estates.

This is good. The pics on the left hand side take me right back to that day I was there. http://www.guardian.co.uk/sport/interactive/2012/jul/27/olympic-regeneration-legacy-stratfordGood to hear the good reports about the site from those who have been. I was in Sydney during the Paralympics there...and, while impressive enough, it did feel a little temporary/prefab to be honest. The stadium itself was great though. I spent pretty much a whole day there watching blade runners and wheelchair athletes. It was (or felt like) basically me and 70,000 Australian school kids with free tickets.

Didn't think I'd watch many events but loving the cycling at the moment. Can't beleive my mum cycles these distances just to train!

I was at the Millennium on the first day for the women's footie and had a good day out, bar the food/drink prices and I'm off to the beach volleyball tomorrow.
Looks like GB are set to win the first medal in the womens road race at the moment as three are about 40 secs clear, with GB's Armitstead in the three.

Handball's a cracking sport, and I quite like the hockey too. Cycling's been interesting but let's be honest it's no surprise people are suddenly finding they enjoy it now that GB is enjoying some success. Can't beat a touch of glory hunting.
The rest has been a bit could take it or leave it at the moment.
