Ask them to speak up. When they do, tell them you still can't hear them. See how loud you can get them to shout.

Or speak very clearly to them but say things unrelated to what they ask you.
Cold caller: Are you interested in reviewing you car insurance needs? You: Yes, the bananas are a bit over-ripe. Can I borrow a shovel?

I'm suprised debt collectors haven't been round thinking the old occupants still live there, surely her giving a false address for herself is a crime in itself. Once you stop her doing this the calls you are getting should eventually dry up.
But its more not updating her details to a new address rather than using a false one. At least you can tell any debt collectors to fuck off and do one. Actually that may work with the cold callers too.

There's nothing you can say that will stop them.
Can you change your number Jan?

I had a cold calling (insurance) job during my university days. The 'abuse' was never that bad if I'm honest (decent pay too) but the thought of it fills me with dread nowadays.
Also, the TPS is a crock.

But we really like our number, I think we'll have to in the end. On the not updating her address I know that is an offence DVLA wise, but when I spoke to them about it they could give a flying f...

Other than it being a real pain in the bottom telling everyone that you have changed it, do you really have an affinity to a random sequence of digits?

Well that fact they're not that random is the point. If you get my drift.

Ha! The sensitive soul. The most common thing I used to get on the phones were people that would get you right to the end of the pitch and instantly say "Nope! BYE! [beeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep]". 5 minutes wasted for all parties. You'd also be surprised with the amount of people who signed up for insurance based cold calls. Whenever I got a sale I'd have to force myself from saying, 'what a mentalist'

is it? I haven't changed my address as I no longer have a UK address and you can't change the address to a non-UK address.

Would imagine giving a false address when applying for credit/store cards is an offence ?
