It was the bit about the lack of stars I struggled to comprehend. They've got the best goalkeeper in the world, and two of the best midfielders to have ever played the game.
I don't think they'll win it - I think they only have a plan A which has been largely sussed out by the better teams, and a lot of their players will be burnt out. But to completely dismiss what a good side they were just smacks of ill informed nonsense

Spain's "system" has grown to look more boring as opposing teams just sit in and try and nullify them. Yes, playing the ball amongst the back 4 isn't entertaining, but when they get the ball in the final third their passing and movement is great to watch.
Italy proved that you don't just have to sit in and defend for your lives though. Press high, get at them and make them feel uncomfortable. Although if/when we face them, no doubt it'll be a 10 men behind the ball job.
As much as I like Spain's play, I think for overall footballing ability you can't get much better than the Germans at the moment.

Stars above the badge, as in World Cup wins.

Oh. Still fail to see how that has any impact on how you judge a countries ability. By that reckoning Uruguay are twice as good as france, england and spain, infinitely better than the netherlands and portugla, and as good as Argentina.

Totally agree. How does Spain's team in the 30's/40's/50's etc affect the quality of this particular side? If they win the Euros they will have won 3 straight major international tournaments, something that's never been done before. Pretty impressive in my book.

Spain can be beaten and are not perfect. You just have to get the ball from them first which aint easy. That's why their style of play is so good as they retain the ball so well.
You don't hold the World cup and Euro's if you aint a great side. It's no fluke
