....and this is what the public came out with

GK: Peter Schmeichel

RB: Gary Nevillie
CB: Nemanja Vidic
CB: Tony Adams
LB: Ashley Cole

RW: Cristiano Ronaldo
CM: Steven Gerrard
CM: Paul Scholes
LW: Ryan Giggs

ST: Thierry Henry
ST: Alan Shearer

Discuss, rate, hate, debate and all that bollocks.

Not sure that would be my 11 personally. I'd certain have Roy Keane or Patrick Vieira in over Steven Gerrard. Not sure i'd have Vidic in at Centre Back either....

Surprising that there are as many as 6 Englishmen in there...is my first thought.

Personally, I would have included Brian Kilcline at CB.

With Andy Mutch.  Just for his brilliant somersaulting when he scores a goal.

I'd have Cantona in instead of Gerrard and possibly Di Canio up front with Henry

i disagree with both vidic (fans) and rio (players) being in one of the cb births.  i'd argue that big sol should be there instead.  also vierra over gerrard.  other than those quibbles you can't really argue.

no great surprise then i guess that the only two differences between the players' and fans' elevens are vidic for rio and keane for gerrard - the rest picks itself

The PL hasn't always been as international as it is now, and there were plenty of decent English players knocking around in the 1990s.

I love Paolo as much as most on here but I'm not sure he would even get close to that team, probably 5-10 strikers ahead of him.

Lee Dixon at RB perhaps? I wouldn't put any Manure players in my team, although I'm surprised Cantona's not there.

You wouldn't put any players in the team of the last 20 years from the club who has won 12 of those league titles?

Can't see how you could look past Schmeichel and Giggs at least in their positions.

I did this the other day with my mate. Ended up with:

G - Van Der Sar (Argued that he did it for longer than schmeichel)
LB - Cole
CB - Ferdinand
CB - Adams
RB - Neville
LM - Giggs
CM - Scholes
CM - Viera
RM - Ronaldo
CF - Henry
CF - Shearer

No idea how Gerrard has got into there ahead of Viera and Keane.
