FOUR Town players are set to be barred from playing in today’s potentially promotion-clinching game with Gillingham.

irrespective of whether you think he's right or wrong to have done it in the first place - once he's dropped the original four he can't be seen to have a different rule can he?

I prefer to see it as putting down a marker. Cross the line boys and you'll regret it. I still can't believe they let us, the club and themselves down like that.

I don't see why he couldn't just fine them. Jimmy Bullard and Michael Chopra went out on the piss a few weeks ago when they shouldn't have and Paul Jewell dropped Bullard and fined Chopra. His reasoning was that each of the respective punishments would be most effective in each player's case.

Paolo should have just fined the other four IMO. It should have been kept in house and a line could have been drawn under the incident.

I have a question. I've been away and have not read every single post on this subject so sorry if it's already been covered.

Every Saturday around the country, players from every club go out on a Saturday night and have a few beers, win lose or draw, regardless of where they are in the table. Paolo, even though he is Italian and therefore not from a drinking culture, will understand this surely, having played in the UK for a number of years.

So my question is: Is his policy that players should never, ever go out drinking during the season (a bit Draconian I would have thought and doomed to failure) or did something else happen for all this to erupt?

And so it rumbles on.  We all hoped this was done and dusted, but clearly not.

If we fail to pick up anything at Gills today, it's the supporters who have paid good money to follow the team there that suffer the most, just like Tuesday night.  If the title was already sewn up, I'd agree with the decision to drop players.  As it's not, I agree with OST, it should have been dealt with in house and not splashed across the paper etc.  Makes the club look a bit silly.

Losing Foderingham is the biggest blow.

Why the fuck did these four not apologise as well earlier in the week? I think Di Canio is spot on here. His way or you're out.

I agree Donkey. I'm really annoyed that we're travelling and paying to watch the team, and 3 important players are being left out because of a stupid incident. It's easy to blame Paolo, and part of me does think he's gone too far, but if they'd come out and owned up like the others this would have been sorted.

It's like a primary school. Embarassing.

Losing Foderingham is the biggest blow but in fairness Smith is going to have some decent defenders in front of him (assuming they've not all been dropped of course) and I have seen Smith have some decent games for us. It's not like we're going to have Rocking Robin in goal...or will we Hmmm

I do agree that the other 4 are fucking imbeciles for not apologizing when they had the chance though. How did they think they would get away with it?

Was Lee Cox likely to be in anyway.

Sound an odd way to punish a player that hasn't even been making the bench.......
