They are far from lazy, their earnings compared to other jobs is irrelivant, and truck drivers occasionally die doing their job too.

I was fishing a bit with the lazy thing, but on reflection I can't remember them moaning about health and safety when their final salary pensions weren't at risk  Hmmm

Either way I doubt they will have much public sympathy should they strike, not that they are asking for it.

Is it superfluous to point out that everyone drives around with a potential bomb on board - it's called a petrol tank. It doesn't matter if it's circa 50 litres or 44 tons - it's rather similar when it catches fire

Is there actually any difference between 'Ultimate' diesel and 'economy' diesel?

On a BMW 120d is it worth the extra fiver or so?

Everyone knows drivers are only drivers cos they couldn't get a real job.

Let 'em strike, sack the lot and draft in a load more, simples.

On a serious note, how the hell do you get into a driving job like this? Do you have to fund the HGV license yourself or can you be sponsored? Anyone know how much a qualification like that is likely to set you back?

I am fucking sick of office work.

There was some Government funding for HGV training, but i think it depends on the scheme, i.e. advanced apprenticeships, skills for logistics etc. Some companies do pay for it too, whether they'd then pay £30k + at the end of it though is a different matter. I know my drivers are on nowhere near that!
