That crashed in my Firefox, but said: Steve Evans has sprung to the defence of Swindon Town manager Paolo Di Canio after he was sent off for the third time this season on Saturday
Di Canio gave a heated press conference afterwards in which he claimed he had the best players in npower league 2 and his team would be champions at the end of the season and that the officials would not stand in the way of that
Steve said: "Paolo Di Canio is a very passionate man when it comes to his football.
"He had that passion as a world class player and he has it as a manager. I love his way and think he has been fantastic for League 2 but as it was his third sending off in a short time I think the FA will look to stop it happening.
"Those who scoffed at his appointment as a manager are now eating their words as he has put together a superb squad of players. I recall he said after their match at Bristol Rovers that he would spend money in January to strengthen the squad or he would be off and in fairness to the directors at Swindon they have backed their manager and I do think he has spent the money very wisely indeed."
We asked Steve what he thought about Di Canio's claims that his team would be the League 2 champions this season and he said: "He certainly has a strong squad of players but there is a lot of football to be played.
"Paul Sturrock, Mark Yates, Graham Turner, Martin Ling, Chris Wilder and myself might not agree with Paolo that his team will be champions but that is the great thing about football, it is all about opinions.
"For me any number of clubs could be champions or indeed be in the end of season play-offs. League 2 is really tough but is also very exciting."
I've highlighted what I think he wants, PDC banned for the Feb 14th game. Scared of sharing the touchline with him ? |
