Symptomatic of there being no decent QBs coming through the draft this year perhaps?
Yup! It seems to be triggering a chain reaction of people resigning with the Buccs now too

Washington trading for Wentz.

Not a lot of faith being shown in this years QB draft class

There's some talent in there but none that really stand out as instant starters. 2021 was supposed to be the best QB class in years and got off to a terrible start! Hard to judge anyone fully on a rookie season though, especially when most of them are playing for bad teams.

The fact that the Steelers have chosen to take Trubisky over drafting someone is pretty damning. Although Chicago is always a black hole for QB's so maybe he's not that bad, but as a replacement for Big Ben?? Not sure.

It’s very rare a draft class doesn’t have any QBs with any hype.
Even people like Dwayne Haskins & Josh Rosen got hype and both have turned out to be terrible. First draft I ever watched there was a small amount of hype for Geno Smith who just made the Jets worse!

In the isn’t much QB talent in the draft then teams only really have two options. Pull of a blockbuster trade (like Denver) or pick up a former starter/back up pick who might do better in a different team. So the likes of Trubisky, Mariota, Bridgwater, Jimmy G, Wentz, Goff, Winston, Haskins etc.

Trubisky will be a relatively cheap options for the Steelers so if he bombs they’ll just move on fairly easily the following season and as you said no one has looked good at QB for the Bears since I’ve been following the NFL.

Surely someone somewhere should take a punt on Kapernick?

His ostracism by the Powers That Be since he took the knee is a scandal.

Been out the game for too long to punt on I'd imagine.

You're right though - nothing short of a disgrace how he was treated.

True, but his last few seasons he wasn't great and he's been out for a long time now. He also (apparently) wants a big payday. Not really worth the risk.

Deshaun Watson apparently meeting with the Browns and has met with Saints & Panthers. That's a decent QB for someone... albeit a horrible human being.

I’m far from a law expert but I’ve never understood quite what is going on with Watson.

Like the Texans couldn’t (wouldn’t?) play him but a lot of teams were willing to trade for him (allegedly) so is the reason the Texans can’t (aren’t?) playing him magically going to go away if he’s traded else where? …and if so how? Something to do with different state laws or are the Texans get taking the moral high ground by not playing him?

Watson was under investigation by law enforcement for sexual assault and the NFL generally blocks teams from playing players in such circumstances.  He is a huge risk to have on your payroll.

Which is a hell of an achievement... and he somehow managed it!

I know next to nothing about NFL, but as a sports fan you can’t help but know the name Brady. Is a player of his age unheard of as performing at a top level in this form of Sportsball?

Watson to the Browns

Apparently law enforcement has said that no charges will be made against him.
However, he still has 22 civil cases outstanding so a big risk for the Browns especially with how much they have given up to get him.

Rumoured to be.
3 firsts, 1 third & 1 fifth (unconfirmed).
