It is the lightest punishment possible IMHO. They were never going to let him off because that would send the wrong message.

Really? What precedent or justification is there for getting a harsher punishment?

A second red card for a Player brings an additional 1 game ban. (ie Kompany getting 4 games instead of 3).
On that basis he had to get at least one game, didn't he?
