Taken from the Brentford Rivals site, a little snippet, from an Article in the Evening Standard, about their plans for redeveloping Griffen Park.

Sounds like the sort of modest proposal, that might be within our compass.

Brentford today announced ambitious plans for a £2.5million redevelopment of Griffin Park.

Raising the capacity from 11,000 to 14,000, the club want to enlarge the Brook Road stand, put a roof on the Ealing Road terrace and build executive lounges in the New Road stand.

The idea is to modernise the 100-yearold ground in a bid to attract new fans and create more opportunites to use the stadium on non-matchdays.

The scheme will largely be paid for by a £1.8m grant from the Government backed Football Stadia Improvement Fund, but still requires planning permission.

I know all may be revealed in a while, but I'm not sure whether we as fans should be anticipating something along these lines, or something all together more ambitious.

Certainly, there would seem to be no reason why something like this, ie roof over Bank, some  boxes and more lounges and perhaps a small increase in capacity shouldn't happen. :?:

It would be really cool if we can do the same.
But I don't understand, Do we own the County Ground and who ever owns it, are they gonna give us it on the cheap?
I don't seem to know the situation?

The CG is Council owned, which  has always been a problem, but it does mean that you can avoid asset strippers like the Wrexham fella, and what happened to Brighton.

Having said that the club do own things like the Nationwide Stand, it would be illegal for the Council to sell us the ground at anything other than the going rate for any potential development on the land, so that is unlikely to happen.

It does look though that there might be government grants available, of course this is likely to be dependent on Community use for the facilities but STFC are already good at this sort of thing.
