Colchester isn't too bad. There's a Tesco near the ground and it's a 10 minute walk to the pubs. However the ground was soulless and cheaply constructed. I hated it.

Not too bad, never been before, so will probably go.

Will be a very tough game.

Any Town fans been to the Dog and Pheasant for a drink ? Says provided you're not wearing colours, you should get in ok.
You should be fine. It's just a 'Hungry Horse' restaurant - a family type place. Can't believe you'd get any bother in there. There's also the Rovers Tye which is off the next junction from the A12, past the ground.

How far is the walk from the stadium to these boozers ?? I assume there is plenty of parking at the ground ?

I think its a poor draw. A tough game away from home. Give me non league canon fodder and an easy route to round 3 any day of the week..

That said, we can win the game. It could have been worse.

Hell of a long walk. Would not recommend it. Loads of parking at and around the ground.

and we can go there knowing that if needs be, a draw and a replay at Fortress County Ground is still a good result.

Just a heads up for people looking to make the trip to Colchester's soulless stadium... Last year I travelled without a ticket and the advertised price of £22 rose to £24 on the day. A sickener for such a rubbish season/ground/result - a snapshot of our season really... Misery!!

Hopefully the pricing will be similar to what we did yesterday, around the £15 mark. Even then, where was everybody?? Bloody great game and full value for money

I'm showing up my recent lack of match attendance here, but had to check which division Colchester were in.  Wasn't sure if they were League Two or one of the multitude of clubs attracting tiny crowds in the league above us.

I now see it's the latter.  If we beat them, will it count as a 'giant killing'?

Just looked up train prices. Four hours on the train, two changes and £59 quid each way. Not a chance
