And a bit of Zeljo vs Sarajevo. That away end looks absolutely mental!

This has turned into a football violence thread. Lots of teams hate each other and it regularly kicks off but Fergie wasn't talking about that.

Going by the massive worldwide support of both clubs and their glorious histories, I'd say he's right. It is the biggest game in the world.

You are right, Fergie wasn't talking about that.  What he is actually doing is be-littleing Chelsea and Man City, the arrogant big headed red nosed wanker.

He's right though, Chelsea and Man City may have spent millions but neither will ever get near Man Utd and Liverpool's success for many, many years.

Exactly.  Ferguson's comments are nothing other than a nervous dig at Man City.  Far from conquering the world, he realises that Man Utd may not even be the top club in their own city by the end of the season.  He's pissed off that City's tilt at success (admittedly, purchased success) has arrived just as he's about to retire.

In terms of distance travelled of supporters for a derby, he is right this must be the biggest.
Afterall the distance the Manure supporters have to travel from Kent & the Liverpool fans from Cardiff/Ireland is huge

Spot on.  Doesn't matter if Manchester City win the league and CL this season Manchester United will still be by far the bigger club.

Fergie is by far the greatest manager of my football watching lifetime, the way he's reshaped his Man Utd teams since 86 is nothing but amazing.  For that reason he's entitled to his opinion, shame that supporters of other football clubs find it so hard to give credit to the bloke and just have to resort to childish insults.

I hope he doesn't retire, I have a pint riding on him choking to death on his chewing in the dugout at Old Trafford while having a go at the 4th official.

Don't think anyone's failing to give him credit.  But he's a master of mind games and loves winding folk up...so I don't think it's out of order to enjoy the moment when he's clearly showing a little discomfort himself.
