Think it becomes a lot more noticeable when you watch the entire thing back to back in a short space of time, which I did.

I watched all 60 episodes in the space of a couple of months and you would have to be pretty dumb to not notice the character development.

Pretty big point of the show, that as much as mayors, police heads etc say there's going to be change, nothing ever changes. Highlights the struggle the lower level cops (McNulty, Daniels etc) have when trying to make a difference.

Totally agree - it was deliberate and the point of the show, almost a documentary type angle to it. Again, not saying it makes it bad but it's not for me.

If you like simplistic stuff, very easy to spot 'character development' and obvious themes/messages, I'd stick to E4 etc. They have plenty of garbage that cater for folk who like that sort of tv.

TV elitism has always been one of my pet hates. Just because someone doesn't like or get a show like The Wire it doesn't mean they are thick and only capable of watching TV that you view as garbage.

I've heard The Wire's character development is particularly noticeable as it progresses.

Really looking forward to Revolution, which will air in the US in September. It's directed by the bloke who did the Iron Man films and produced by JJ Abrams.

It does look good, will have to give it a watch when it starts.

Agreed, thought he was excellent in BB. Not a patch on his early work though

I've always felt that many parts of DTRT feels more theatre than film. That scene being a good example.

You should have warned innocent bystanders that the clip involves Martin Lawrence acting with a lisp.

Just watched the first episode of House of Lies.  From what I can see so far....   well worth downloading.....  or wait for Sky Atlantic in September.

Gonna watch episode 2 now, i'll keep you informed.

Made me remember 'Tour of duty' from a few years back, I used to enjoy that.
