The Americans having a street party over it just sums it up. Twats.
Agreed. I haven't worked out what the overall reaction of the American public is, but anybody celebrating this news with a party needs to have a word with themself.

Perhaps not a party but I don't see what's wrong with being pleased that an evil scumbag has got what he deserved.

What would you do if a terrorist attacked Swindon, killed 3000 people and wasnt caught for 10 years? There would be people celebrating. Some people use any excuse to have a go at Americans.

Whilst it's good they have finally caught him I find the comments from various politicians both past and present laughable. I mean anyone who seriously thinks the world is going to be safer needs to take a look at themselves. Yes they have got their leader but their number 2 is still at large and i'm sure we can expect some attacks to pay for Bin Laden's death in the near future. It's only going to make the situation worse than it probably currently is. Typical propoganda chance for Obama as well. He doesn't seem to be setting the world on fire across the pond so this will probably win him his 2nd term now

It wasn't a dig at Americans, more the idea that this is something to celebrate. It just happens that it has been more evident so far in the US. I am pleased to know bin Laden was found and that he is no longer able to mastermind any more murderous schemes - of course I am. I just think that celebrating the killing of anybody is morbid, and in some ways self-righteous. As for the street parties, which is the bit you picked me up on, they seem incredibly naive, possibly borne out of the Bush administartion's attempt to link all terrorism and evil to this one man.

I'd be glad they had been brought to justice, but I wouldn't be celebrating. Obviously it's not the entire country that is having a big party but the number of them that do think it's cause for celebration is worrying - especially as those pictures will be beamed around the world. Let's not forget that civilians were killed in this attack and that no one had been tried in a court.

The people of New York, Washington and various other places which have been directly affected by this man and his gang, have every right to celebrate however they wish IMO.

Given that there are more than a few in the crowd who have clearly lost loved ones in the atrocities and no doubt many others who were affected, they can do what they like as far as I'm concerned. If I had lost a loved one in similar circumstances I'm sure I would be tempted to feel the same.

Americans killed = celebrations in the 'Eastern' world. Bin Laden killed = celebrations in the 'Western' world.
The irony isn't lost on me.

I'm glad he's dead, but why no pictures of his body, and why was he suddenly buried at sea, especially there is no sea anywhere near ?
