I assume that kid is a time lord, with the suggestion that it's Amy's kid?
Total guess but the child is the daughter of Amy and Rory who instead of being born with a 'time head' was born with some Time Lordy type stuff. The child will grow up to be River Song, hence the fact she can fly the TARDIS and all that. |

I only just got to watch it. It could be the Doctor's Daughter from that titled episode in Tennant's run. The one who was not only played by Davison's daughter, but is also now has a kid with Tennant. Doctor Who can be somewhat incestuous.

Also I thought that second part was rather good. It jumped a bit in parts, and ran out of steam in others, but on the whole it was much tidier than the first one. Without really tying much together.
There's a few huge problems though. The Silence/Silents didn't seem to have any trouble killing that star trek bird in the toilets in ep 1, so why didn't they just wipe them all out. I guess it's because of something to do with Amy's apparent Schrödinger's child, but it does seem strange.
The rest of it was pretty cool. River a bit obnoxious again, after I liked her last week. Her action shooting scene went on a bit and was a little over the top. The doctor's reaction to her kiss was perfect though.
I think the whole style of the episode came together much more to day. A lot of the camera angles and lighting were very much straight out of sci-fi horror, it will be interesting to see if they can keep that up. They were pretty successful with last years fairy tale theme.
I'm worried that the whole thing might get a bit lostesque. We've got multiple threads of story (like the proto Tardis from The lodger last year) across multiple time lines going in different order. The whole thing could get a little bit too much. At the moment though, I'm looking forward to unravelling it.

How does cloning stop it being her? It's clearly Amy's Schrödinger baby anyway, so it's a bit immaterial, but I don't see why the cloning would stop it being her. Interestingly it was Moffat who requested that the clone from The Doctor's Daughter didn't get killed off at the end of the episode. |

Because Jenny in that episode is created through a progenation machine that creates her as an adult soldier near instantly. She was never a child, so hence can't be this child |

Ahh I hadn't ruled out non-children regenerating into children. The doctor seems to gradually get younger so I can't see why it wouldn't be possible. It might even make sense if an 8 year old clone regenerated into an 8 year old child.
e: although I'm pretty sure it's not her. It'll probably be Amy's quantum does/doesn't exist child which ends up being River song and the whole thing is a bit boring.

Only just watched last week's episode but clearly the child is Amy and the Doctor's. He secretly snuck some of the Silents' memory-wiping tech to slip one up the ginger minx when no-one was looking. Or if they were, they couldn't remember. I think I might be overlaying my own motivation on the Doctor's here

Fuck off (he says having not watched it)! Doctor Who and pirates, what's not to like? (I'm probably influenced by the fact I watch it with my kids who were variously unnverved and confused by the first two episodes)
