It's worth pointing out that last season Hoddle took over the football operations (as a kind of DoF I guess) of the local Spanish 3rd tier side Jerez Industrial, that the academy  had a link up and investment with. They got relegated, Hoddle's lost his cash, the link-ups been pretty much broken up, with most of the academy lads back in England, (8 have gone back over on loan to JI until the end of the season).

It's possible I guess that GH is looking for a lower league club to have a long term link up with. With the way Fitton's mind works, wanting a stable coaching team of decent quality, I could see him at least putting the offer to him of a similar arrangement to that at JI. Still having a club appointed head coach, but with GH as DoF and sharing Rix / Beasant and Spackman with the academy. (Assuming they're moving the operation back home anyway)

Am I the only one a bit worried by these developments....the thought of Rix and Spackman being anywhere near STFC fills me with dread.

In comparison to the people who have "coached" our players for the last 10 years or so? Not really no.

So you'd take....Spacker and Rix over for example Malcolm Crosby, Gus Poyet, Paul Sturrock, Danny Wilson. FFS I'd take Kingy over those 2.

Rix had a great reputation before his, ahem, misdemeanour.

I couldn't think of anything worse.

Spackman has been in an out of management since taking over at Sheff Utd in 97 - he hasn't managed to last a season, yet.

Rix is just grubby.  He reminds me of watching the Human Centipede after which I felt like I needed to bleach and scour my eyeballs.

Jim McIntyre of Dunfermaline is my top tip, scotch but not in the Malpas mould, looks a good up and coming young manager with all the media skills of the old smoking chimp.  Can't go wrong?

Not at all (as in you're not the only one). Please God no. At least Fulham only have to put up with a statue of one.

Wasn't Rix also in charge at the Scummers during "BannanaGate"?

Just been catching up on this thread.

However high you put him up the managerial legends scale, having Hoddle as manager knowing that any signings will be done not only in the interests of the club but also with a vested interest in his academy, just seems like a bad idea. Actually it fills me with the same sort of dread as the club being bought up by a shadowy consortium of agents.

Best Holdings? Didn't they have something smilar thing going on with foreign players? It would be a bit like that but less corrupt. With this in mind i'm not sure I fancy the idea of Hoddle in charge either.

Yeah. I was referring to them.

Unless fitton and co wanted to further their youth setup plans by actually buying out the academy for the club. I suppose that could work. Doesn't seem likely though.

I think if the club descended so far as to have any dealings with a paedo Scummer like Rix then even I'd reconsider 40 years of support. The crossbar needs to be set - even if it very low - but complete fucking scum like rix would never get over it.
As the Manic Street Preachers said " if you tolerate Rix then you're children will be next".

The only thing worse than Rix and/or Spackman next season would be keeping on Paul Hart.

I wouldn't particularly want Hoddle in. He's one of my favourite Swindon players of all time, he was excellent for us as manager but I would prefer someone a bit younger, hungrier, with new ideas getting into management. Almost like Hoddle was when he came to us in the early 90's.

Rix and Spackman, both total failures.
