For those moaning about Trollope....he took Rovers from L2 strugglers to L2 promotion in the space of a year. Not bad. Good record at that level. Did well with Rovers bar this season as well on a shite budget. Boothroyd would never come to a L2 team. I think some people need to get a reality check to be honest. We won't be getting a big name or a really decent manager because of the level we are at.

I was going to post something along those lines. His record at Rovers does not look that awful and in fairness, Rovers did not look that bad a side when we played them at the CG earlier in the season. Worth noting also that he took them to the Paint Pot Trophy Final and the Quarter Finals of the Cup. A decent cup run (of any description) is something this club is crying out for. I've no idea (just like anyone else) whether he would be good, bad or indifferent for us but if he's going to be our next manager we might as well look for the positives.

Didn't Trollope have most of his success when Lennie Lawrence was around?

Forgot about their cup runs actually. And you're spot on. We all know Fitton is also keen on cup progress. Could be a good thing for Trollope if he wants the job here.

If Boothroyd, would do ColU, then he'd do Swindon. More likely Fitton would not be interested, firstly style of play secondly he'd fuck off as soon as we got on a run...

This thread is depressing as fuck....first there`s talk of A D Bothrod now Paul Trollope...if your going have a thread make it about someone who we might look forward to....like Joe Kinnear ( is he still alive?)

I think that has to be taken into account when looking at Trollope's previous record if it is the case. It certainly seems to be the common conception and I believe Lawrence is seen to be doing similar things alongside Freedman at Palace at the moment.

This is the sort of thing we'll never know....but can assume that Trollope picked up some knowledge along the way.....Fitton may well regard it as a sign that Trollope is a team player and could work alongside him in a sort of Lawrence role.
