'I could have been sacked a long time ago'

DANNY Wilson has accepted he has benefited from an ambitious board abandoning the ‘hire and fire’ mentality of modern football in favour of a more
progressive approach during Town’s monumentally disappointing campaign.

Nothing we didn't know already. It's been done to death on here already, and I think most people acknowledge he could and possibly should have gone at the start of Jan, but is now here until the end of the season at least.

Thought he made one good point in there though:

Quote
"Whether people do have patience we’ll wait and see, but the one thing we need at this moment in time is support,” he said.

“The young lads need support, the team needs support and it’s not about Danny Wilson it’s about the club and it always will be."

i'm still a supporter of DW and his team. i think you don't go from being a good manager to being a crap manager over night.

as he has said it's a young team and one which will flourish next season.

This year is consolidation and build on it for next year. the team needs the support from us fans and not hounding out DW all the time. let the board sort that one out. Fitton knows what he's doing.

To be fair its part of a managers job to speak to the press.

If you don't like what he says don't read it.

It's all about results isn't it.

Take Saturday as an example, if we hadn't conceded the goal to Rochdale & Benyon's late goal had been a winner there would have been far less Wilson Out comments & general doom & gloom afterwards.

Maybe it's Rose tinted spectacles time, but I'm sure that when I were a lad that we supported the team in games & sometimes booed them off at the end if they were really crap.
Now it seems that the team get the bird as soon as it looks like we might lose the game.

The impatience and short sightedness in football nowadays is remarkable.

Maybe not, but a crap manager who has one lucky season is still a crap manager.

How can you 'get lucky' throughout one whole season? Admittedly, last season we were fortunate not to have many injuries/suspensions to key players, but otherwise, how can anyone state 'we were lucky last season', or we 'over performed'. It doesn't make sense to me?

Indeed, but on the flip side you cant (not that you have personally) claim that this season is just 'bad luck' either.

So when we have a good season it's lucky now.

Jeez there really is no pleasing some people.

Yes you're right, not aware that anyone is claiming that though. Well certainly not in this thread.
