I'd love to see Crawley in the semis...if it meant that Project Promotion was derailed and AFC Wimbledon won promotion back in to the League.

Wouldn't worry about them. They may go up this year and next year also, but it's unsustainable with a 1200 fan base and a 6000 capacity stadium. Even if they upped that it would be a white elephant, as how many single teenage mums are interested in football Wink

With Brighton's fortunes having taken a turn for the better, as well, they could not really have timed their surge any worse.  Rushden Mk II.

People in glass houses.....

The stadium needs expanding for sure, but Crawley's fan base has ballooned recently (unsurprisingly) and it's a real tug of war between Brighton and Crawley.  Can't really understand the intense dislike - there's no difference with what they're doing to AFC Wimbledon in respect of buying their way into the football league.

Surely we should be cheering them on - it makes our second round exit a little less embarrassing.

Crawley's a shit hole and their fans are total arseholes.

Add that to the fact they've got a fat, crooked, cunt of a manager and what's to like?

Don't have a problem with them , none whatsoever, good luck to them. Rushden bought there way up a few seasons back. The original Wimbledon had a gritty siege mentality when they went through the ranks, no bad thing, breeds solidarity on the pitch.

Wrong. AFC have been getting 3000+ gates since they were formed. Crawley, who have been in admin twice in less than 5 years, are getting gates of 1200, and spending more money on players than most league two sides, and they have a manager, who has history.

You have to wear a Swindon shirt and all is forgiven.

Are you suggesting I'm a teenage mum? Fwiw I don't really have a problem with them, bar the fact I froze my nuts off and then they beat us, sore loser yes..

No, I was referring to the average maternal age in Sutton...!

After my behaviour in a Town shirt at the Crawley game I don't think venturing up to Old Trafford wearing it is a particularly wise idea.

Crawley is a great town with scummy people.  Its far better equiped than Swindon and certainly better located....  Fuck me I'm beginning to sound like a Crawley fan.  Think I'd best not go....

Torres was reported as being on £660 / week, which most league clubs could top.  I agree its not particularly romantic, given that the strikeforce alone cost half a million.  With Crawley's shady history I wouldn't be surprised if the bubble burst once more.  It's hard not to get caught up in the hype here - Manchester United is being whispered on every street corner.

The Crawley game made me angry, as the local Millwall/West Ham/Chelsea fans suddenly became Crawley die-hards, and they played up to the cup minnows label despite the healthy finances.  Cup romances usually rely on the club needing the money from the gate receipts in order to avoid the dark cloud of a winding up order or something...

However, I can't help feeling a slight affinity as I live here, and I always look out for their results, even venturing to the odd game.  I'm leaning away from a trip to Old Trafford, as I think it'll be a let down in comparison to Wembley last year.  I can also see ticket prices being rediculously expensive, despite being an unaesthetic Crawley side and a United reserve team.

Spencer - the Carlisle comment was tongue in cheek.  I remember the game well as it cost me £90 in my accumulator (I know, I know, never bet on your own team)....

I lived in Pound Hill for a bit after i split from the missus.

My friend at work is mates with Jamie Cook (ex scummer) who is currently bench-warming for Crawley. Apparently he is on £1200 a week :O

£5 a week wages and £1195 a week expenses?
