Fifa executive committee members Amos Adamu and Reynald Temarii have been banned from voting in the 2018 and 2022 World Cup hosting ballot.

Adamu was banned from football activity for three years and Temarii for one year over claims they asked for money in exchange for World Cup votes.

Meanwhile, Qatar and Spain-Portugal were cleared of collusion.

The ballot will proceed on 2 December with 22 voters - instead of 24 - and nine candidates across the two votes.

Good news for the 2018 bid but still you feel they'll give it to bloody Russia...

Everyone at FIFA are up to their necks in corruption. In fact the General Secretary was sacked for lying in a court case...only to get re-appointed less than a year later.

And it is reported that maybe he only got reappointed because he had something over Blatter :

I think it'll go to Spain/Portugal as they've done a deal with Qatar to help them with 2022...despite what FIFA have said.

I expect it to go to Russia, so that Blatter can leave another 'legacy' ala South Africa, and I expect the likes of Abramovich's money will help their bid as well

I'm finding this Qatar business a little hard to believe.  It would be like awarding the World Cup to the West Midlands.  Although the West Midlands does, admittedly, have a little more in the way of football culture.

I would also normally, but there is no doubt the money men in the Middle East want the tournament despite them having to build 16 air conditioned stadia as the heat would be stifling when the tournament would have to be played, but money is no problem, even though it's been marked as the worst bid for 2022.

When you consider the Spanish/South American/Asian block hold 7 of the 12 votes that'll be needed...it's virtually a no brainer.

The Russians probably merit it....but it hosting might represent our best chance of qualifying.

Or apparently not, seeing as we were expecting them both to vote for us!

FIFA are such a contemptible organisation I'd almost prefer the Government running football.
