man...King is trying to sign him, but probably won't due to torquay wanting 300,000 in compensation!  Shocked thats a joke.

i'll be happy if we don;t sign him, King has also said that there is something in the pipeline which if he pulls off will feel the void left by parkin...next 48 hours according to him to.

akinfenwa's crap anyway! you said sabin cant finish but this guy is even worse. he's the poor mans emile heskey. slabber was probably better than him

would rather we got someone like cureton, thorpe or taylor. the only problem with them though is big wages

he can't be that bad if he scored 14 league goals in 28 games, 9 as sub. Thats 1 in 2.

I wouldn't mind Akinfenwa, but

a) 300k is an absolute joke
b) We CAN do better
c) He is basically a greedier version of Rory Fallon

His still of play is very Fallon, true but thats not a bad thing in this league if you have a small quick striker to pair them up with.

300 grand. The worlds gone mad.I mean if all we've got for sam is 400 grand, how the hell can he be worth 300? The shitty wanted him until they found out they would have to pay a fee,the figure i read then was 100 grand ,thats too much as well.

As I understand the Akinfenwa situation, Torquay are entitled to some sort of fee....which can either be negotiated or go to tribunal.....this is for expenses incurred in developing a young player.....but of course they didn't so its likely a tribunal wouldn't look favourably at their case.

Shitty were only interested in a free, there's no way Torquay could expect more than 50K, so may settle for this in two stages.

Wonder if they'd try and go for Henderson again?

We couldn't afford him before, not sure what his contract situation is, but don't think we could afford him under present wage restraints.

Perhaps - but considering they've offloaded a high wage earner in the past few days, it could be possible.

Last time we offered £40k (and performance incentives), which was accepted but HE turned it down over wages. Now Parkin has gone, perhaps he'd be the fella to fill the hole.

By the sound of Bob Holts comments at the time, hendo was asking for SERIOUS amounts of money. I get the feeling he was looking for more than a couple of grand a week.
