fuck me. i've seen the first 4 minutes and this is mental
"Mental" being the right word - if they'd been dealt with properly as mental health (rather than criminal) cases, the bloke might never have been stabbed. Awful programme though, car crash TV at its worst (literally). Surely this is the sort of crap the BBC should be leaving to Channel 5?

Watched this earlier. It is probably the most weird thing I've ever seen on TV. The bit at the start where they're just jumping into traffic is the most fucked up bit obviously.

I agree it's unusual for the BBC to broadcast this kind of programme. It's a very strange series of events though and I don't think there's anything wrong with making a TV programme about it. A lot of people seem to have found it interesting. It's in the list of most popular stuff on iplayer.

A lot of people buy the Sun and find Heat interesting. Doesn't stop them being drivel though.

I think what happened with those sisters was a bit more strange and interesting than a celebrity wedding or knowing who has put on a little bit of weight.

Do you think it was a waste of license payers money? I doubt it cost much to make. It was mostly cctv footage and interviews with witnesses.

This is a rare occasion where I have to strongly disagree with you Mr D. I have to say I find this story absolutely fascinating and it made for great TV.

Firstly, on the subject of the programme itself. This was originally part of the Traffic Cops series and was originally shown by the BBC a couple of years ago. I’ve not watched every episode but I’ve seen a few and have always found them to be compulsive viewing. They are well made, informative and not at all sensationalised. They are infinitely better than the ‘Speeding Nutter Psychos’ and ‘When Good Drivers Go Nuts’ rubbish regularly shown by Channel 5, Sky, Bravo, Living etc etc etc etc (and I do sometimes watch those as well and I will concede they are utter garbage)

I did happen to see the original episode with the two Swedish…well…let’s see….they can only be described as nut jobs and I couldn’t believe my eyes. However the programme left more questions than it answered so I was really interested to see that they had made a one-off follow up and can see now of course why there was a limit to how much they could say about the women involved.

Secondly, the story itself is so completely and utterly unique. Right from when they got the National Express coach from Liverpool to London (and to this day no one knows why they were headed to London) to the incredible behaviour on the motorway (including one being run over by an HGV!) which would have been amazing even if they had been on the worst LSD trip ever but even more so given that they had no trace of alcohol or drugs in their system to the murder of a totally innocent man trying to help one of them, to the jumping off a forty foot bridge to the theories of the Physiatrists employed by the Defence and Prosecution. This in itself sets itself totally apart from the Channel 5/Sky bilge. We’re not talking about a few pissed up/stoned kids running around in the road throwing stones at cars or a few pissed up Brits abroad. It’s a totally unique story. One that, if they are honest, even medical experts are at a loss to explain.

It also raises a couple of very relevant issues (not something that ‘Speeding Nutter Psychos’ or ‘When Good Drivers Go Nuts’ EVER do) in that, as has already been alluded to, you have to question how the woman who killed the bloke was let out so early and so easily. She was examined, apparently by four different medical people who all said she was ok but none of them saw the footage of what happened on the M6. That should have been enough for her to be placed in a secure environment where she could be assessed. Then there is the issue of the psychiatrists’ findings that she had been mad at the time of the killing and now, no longer was. Meaning that the Judge could not have her detained indefinitely and pretty much had no choice but to jail her for only 5 years (she’ll be out next year)

This in turn raises the philosophical issue of ‘can you be mad at one point in time, and not mad at some point further on in time’ That’s quite badly worded but anyway…to me, madness can’t leave you like a physical condition such as a cold or flu. It will bury itself in your sub conscious but will always be there and may or may not manifest itself again at some point in the future.

Anywhoo…I’ve probably gone on a bit here but this is just something that really captured my interest and the programme which portrayed it does not deserve to get lumped together with the bilge they show on C5 and should certainly not get mentioned in the same breath as The Sun or Heat Magazine.

the loon ran over by the hgv is the most lucky person to be alive on the planet.(actually considering her sis jumped off a bridge and across a motorway 3 times i'm not sure)anyway....
there is a small gap between the cab itself and the legs of the trailer.somehow she got between that gap.then she has avoided the tyres completely as the trailer has passed over her.i'm guessing the bar at the back clattered her breaking her legs.
how she survived that and still kicked off is unbelievable.

One minute in, this looks truly bizarre, wondering if this is going to be a good idea.
