No return to Town for Sheehan

ALAN Sheehan will not be rejoining Swindon Town following the arrival of Michael Rose from Stockport County.

I really can't imagine Leeds want a fee for him as the Adver seem to suggest, they've made it pretty clear that they want rid.

I guess the problem is that he is on a fat wage, and won't budge until either a new club either matches it or Leeds agree to pay off some of the difference. Much like when Birmingham were still paying Mooney while he was here.

Not really worth pushing the boat out for a half decent left back. He did a good job but, as Wilson says, defensively we weren't really good enough to get promoted. Maybe a bit of tinkering will change that.

I would't bank on that bates is a greedy fucker and will hold out for a better offer. I guess someone else has had shown interest in him and bates was trying to get some kind of auction going,Im still not convinced he wanted to come here anyway.

2 words - Ken Bates.  Highly probable that they would want a fee for him!

I recon its more likely down to extremely high wages, and hes not worth breaking the bank for.

He did ok for us, nothing more, so its no loss.

Oh yeah, I don't doubt for a minute that Bates would want a fee for him, but I would have thought that it would be unrealistic to expect a club to pay a fee as well as taking on a (presumably) high earner. Sheehan is a relatively young lad, and hasn't really pulled up any trees yet - plenty of loan spells in the lower leagues, never really settled anywhere, so I can't see clubs forming a queue for him. Bates's priority would more likely be just to get him off the bill IMO.

Are you basing this purely off the fact he's Irish?

Glad to see somebody else thinking logically. As greedy as Bates may be, he's not stupid enough to wait for a fee when he's paying wages to an apparantly useless player. He'll just want Sheehan off the wage bill.

A permanent deal was agreed for Sheehan but he said no and came on loan instead. It's highly unlikely Leeds are asking for a fee for a player they've just told to fuck off and find a new club so its probably wages that are the sticking point.

I guess Wilson had a look at what was available and decided Rose was a better option, maybe a cheaper one. I don't think Sheehan did himself any favours with his dip in form towards the end of the season.
