It’s his birthday today.
He turned 5 at midnight - whilst we were still awake and in the airport. The people we were sat with sang happy birthday.
Obviously he’s had no cards & presents because they are all at home.

Nice one, a little later than planned but something to talk {and laugh} about a few years down the line.

So...Tenerife next year or somewhere else?  Wink

Yeah maybe….

Wouldn’t have mattered where we had gone or who with.

I think naturally people tend to over pack but from now on I will pack a couple of days extra clothes just in case and not leave less than half empty toiletries behind just in case….

I often keep a spare change of clothes {fresh grundies, socks and a tee} in my carry-on. I have no kids and tend to travel lightish {unless travelling camera equip} so esp when flying with Jet Deux - I take advantage of their ten kg cabin bag limit and inclusive carry on. Obviously they do 22kg checked bags which I've used on occasion but still often do the spare clothes in my carry-on.

It was something I did more habitually during covid era {was fortunate enough to fly and travel but at times the rules matched against procedures was a bit farcical} as you just never really knew when the next wave of cancellations might hit. Only benefit of that was, literally all the hotels would be empty so was definitely guaranteed a bed - usually back at where I had been staying.

Always things to be learnt I guess, from these types of moments. I suppose some decent kip is in order for you and yours now and a more laid back day tomorrow?

Coming back to this forum after a long hiatus I just noticed the text under my avatar says ‘not 30 yet’. I am 32 now, but I remembered the reason I wrote it. A forum member (who doesn’t post anymore, or got banned, or is in prison, or got bummed by some bin men, I can’t remember) said this to me:

Quote
Yep, the best of luck with [being a feminist] When you find yourself past your sexual attractiveness and in your mid thirties on your own in a house full of cats as no real man would put up with your ranting feminist bullshit you will have a lot of time to reflect on your choices.

You will probably be fat and ugly with lots of piercings and tattoos as well by then.

All the best

Love and kisses xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I can confirm I am not fat nor do I have any weird tattoos/piercings (good) and I don’t have any cats (which I am actually sad about.) I suppose I have 3 years to go, though.

Welcome back.

I’ll make the first (and most obvious guess) that was the ever charming DMR who said that.

Tangenty but you’re (were) based in Wales? Have I got that right.

I won’t - just randomly a couple of years back I was on a murder mystery weekend sat at the same table as an older gentleman from Wales who was had two kids (boy & girl) and referred to the girl as Ells - which seemed very coincidental at the time and reminded me of you but the conversation never got in depth enough to know what Ells was an abbreviation for and what football club said daughter supported.

Assuming that you being based in Wales means your family are from / based there to…

Probably coincidence…

I have some family here (they’re the reason we moved) but I’m also an only child. So unless there’s something my parents aren’t telling me it wasn’t me Smiley
It is an unusual nickname though for sure.
