I'm not going to be a hypocrite, I loved our time under Di Canio and put up with his methods because (short term) they get results.
They may work at Sunderland. But after the way he left us I kind of hope he falls on his arse.
In any case the match was just on MOTD. Savage seemed less than impressed with PDCs public criticism of O'Shea. I thought it was fairly mild for PDC.
I said it then (when he was at Swindon) and I'll say it now. Di Canio has the ability to go all the way to the top as a manager. However, unless he can (to put it bluntly and simplistically) 'wind his neck in a bit', he's going nowhere. He's far too intense for his own good. |

I agree, however I don't think it's being hypocritical, I think we're perfectly entitled to follow his example of being a turncoat. I loved the man and the team under him. But when push came to shove he showed his true colours and left without so much as a good bye to the staff at Swindon (from what I've heard) - showing he doesn't actually have any of the loyalty or values he so professed. He acted like a spoilt little brat and completely burnt his legacy in my opinion. |

A lot of people were not 100% comfortable with his management style when he was here. That doesn't mean we didn't enjoy the success and style of football. Nonetheless, even though it was hard to criticize, the doubts remained and were perfectly valid.

Savage is a complete bell end, and he'd probably have been one of the first PDC would have carted out if he'd every managed him. I actually hope PDC succeeds as to me I feel he's trying to get as far away from the handle with kid gloves style of management, these players are professional men and should act accordingly. For too long players have been living the life of riley. Time to man up. I don't care about the way he left, I realised years ago that the only people who display loyalty in football are the fans. |
