Why do companies still produce tinned goods without ring pulls? You’ve got to dig out that rusty old can opener that only opens 2/3rds of the can top so you then have to get a spoon and try to break the bit that’s still attached to the can. Then the spoon flicks up covering you in whatever was in the can.

Bollocks.

Branson baked beans are so clearly superior to all other brands. I don’t know how they do it. I’ll have to ask Richard.

(I realise, by the way, that joke is neither funny or works).

Was always led to believe that Heinze were the best until I tried Branstons. That said during the first lockdown the wife and I couldn’t be arsed with the ridiculous faff of queuing up outside Asda and following arrows around the store. Hence a first visit to Lidl. Hit or miss on some things but to be fair their own brand beans are pretty good, not quite Branston but still better than Heinze.

On the subject of baked beans. Two things spring to mind. Firstly if you really like a tomatoey flavour you could do worse than add a squeeze of tomato puree to help that along. Secondly on our last visit to Florida I picked up some different flavoured BB from Wally World to construct a full English four us and our friends in the house we rented. Fuck me, the sugar that was in the sauce was enough to make you teeth rot in their sockets. I do love going to America but the amount of sugar in stuff is obscene. Each to their own I suppose.

I couldn’t even spell Branston correctly and can think of no baked beans/Branston puns. I find this very ‘jarring’…?

That’s the best I can do 😥

You aren’t wrong, absolutely everything in the States is pumped full of extra sugar. Even sugar. It’s grim.

There’s all sorts of things banned from foodstuffs - and the production of - in Europe which are merrily used in the States.

You’d think they’re purposely making their citizens I’ll.

I’m certain of it, hyperbole aside. I don’t understand why, it’s blatantly unhealthier and makes nothing taste better. American bread, for example. Eugh

Chlorine and chicken, for example.
