Bewster, have a look on "low cost holidays " or "on the beach".
You could get something for under £2,500 similar to what you are after.

If you're looking for all inclusive, you could look at a cruise? Surprisingly good value when we went on one last year.

Self-catering would take a lot off your price though.

Cheers 4D

I'd probably take the fine from the school and go in term time if going abroad on that type of holiday was a must.
Sorry for you loss by the way. Not seen that previously.

Thanks Arriba. I'm thinking about going just before or after school hols now

But definitely avoid TravelRepublic (similar kind of site). Completely incompetent, worst customer service going, refused to compensate or even properly discuss after their error (bordering on fraudulent mis-selling tbh) nearly ruined our holiday a few years back. In fact, had it not been for the consideration of the hotel they'd had no right to claim to be able to sell rooms in, we'd have been stuck in Spain without a place to stay. Appalling people

Ha, just had a quick look and found 10 nights in Malgrat de mar, Costa Brava from 15.08.2016, all inclusive flying Gatwick to Barcelona, 50 metres from the beach total less than £1,500 for you Bewster

Oh really? I had booked my holiday to Egypt through them but as I posted a few days ago, I've had a refund now and we're looking to book elsewhere.

I'd read about other sites selling rooms as available and then people turning up at the hotel to find there was no reservation. I was a bit sceptical that Travel Republic were offering rooms at £1 deposit and nothing to pay until two weeks before departure.

The thing is, booking flights and hotels separately works out a lot cheaper than a package tour especially if you can find a hotel that the likes of Thomas Cook and TUI don't use.

heard bad things about on the beech too. I guess most people leave reviews to complain though.

I went ebookers this time. even they have 'scamming' tactics. the same holiday was £20 more if I searched for same dates and hotel by name against searching same dates and picking the same hotel from the list!

oh, and doing it this way definitely worked out cheaper than direct for the accommodation. which is unusual

A combination of Network Rail and the bloody weather have majorly fucked my week up.

I live in Lancashire, but have to work two days this week in Hertfordshire followed by a meeting in Newcastle on Friday morning. I am not allowed to drive at the moment so plan was train down to Herts, two days work, train back to Lancashire Thursday night and then early train to Newcastle Friday AM.

However the railway line between Carlisle and Newcastle is now closed meaning that I cannot get from Lancashire to Newcastle for the meeting on Friday morning. To cut a long story short I am now having to travel back to Manchester on Thursday night, stay in a Travelodge next to the station and then get an early train to Newcastle on Friday morning.

Its just a pain, I have arranged holidays travelling in Europe that have been less hassle than this!

Rant over!

It should be.  I hate the way we dick about with counties/local geography here.  The Americans or French would never stand for it.
