the Tories are preparing the Royal mail for sale now. They are overseeing the closures you mention now. he toriesTories were also dipping into the pot generated by Royal mail long before labour took over, but labour did nothing for the Royal mail apart from the few back benchers who fought to keep it public. You won't be getting that now.
But the biggest decline of the company was during Labour's watch. we went from making lots of money to having massive debts. The tories may well have been creaming money from the company, but there was money to cream off then! labour are the major force behind the company being in the state they are at the minute. they knew exactly what they were doing when they opened up the market to competition, tories aren't gonna turn that back around are they?

This is what irritates me (not really on here but on things like Twatter), many of the unpopular policies etc that people blame the tories for were either started by or perpetuated by Labour. They are all as bad as one another, the only thing I would say is that Labour have sold their core support down the river to get elected, the Tories have stayed much as they were, so who should we trust?

To emphasise I am in know way a tory, but we don't have parties in this country anymore, just minor differences of the centre right!"

It used to be simple,
if you were poor you voted labour
If you were rich you voted tory
If you were (as the most are) somewhere in the middle you get shafted by both & therefore your decision was based on your social conscience.

Now, they both seem much of a muchness, and all lie their heads off to get elected & as soon as they are elected blame the previous governments for any problems.

no disputing what you're saying regarding labour, they fucked royal mail over for sure. The Tories are worse though as their agenda will see the end of it.

Bang on. Irrespective of the labels, so far as I can see we've just had different flavours of Tories in since 1979. Just one lot are more honest about it

Oh, ok, I thought it was just a probation service thing.  My comment now stands in this thread as I'm annoyed I got it wrong, and that we gave him a trial.

Well that was how he tried to dress it up pretty much straight after and that very quickly became the established party line with anyone daring to suggest otherwise being loudly rounded on by the "Darest thou speak no ill of our sacred club" crew. I'm sure they'll be along in a minute to correct me Smiley

But the tories whole point leads to privatisation it's ingrained in what they do - labour however are supposed to be to protect the working man... So i wonder who is 'worse'

I've long come to the conclusion that the great fallacy of politics is that the dividing line is vertical - left/right. The true dividing line is horizontal - us/them.

I know you won't like a link to the Daily Mail but this has more than a element of truth about it (stop watches still being right twice a day etc):

This has always been my view. People arguing Labour/Lib Dems/Tory seems silly, they're all utter scum. The people should be one against them, not arguing over stupid classes, who's got a posh accent and loads of other distracting window dressing.

Starts out reasonably enough, good point about the boundary reforms = rotten boroughs then just turns into the usual Daily Mail "bash the BBC, liberal left wing elites ruining our great nation" bullshit. Sure they just get a chimp in the office to churn this stuff out.
