I read suspicious package with white powder, deemed safe on investigaiton.

But the adver sire seems stuck to me? I can't see any reference to "safe and no idea where I read it.

Anyone renewed their passport lately? How long does it take?

I’m off to Athens mid December, so if I renewed now, usual service, should that be long enough?

I haven't, but this website suggests current waiting times are about 12 days

The British Passport Office is about the only Government run department that I have ever come across that seems efficient.  I get renewals done from over here and have the new passport plus my old one clipped and returned within three weeks at most usually.

Having a couple of very clear nights- perfect for astro imaging coincide with a stinking head cold.

So wooly in the head in the evening that it presented a risk to my equipment so I didn't bother  Sad

I looked the other day because mine has about 8 months left until expiry. There's that thing where you're supposed to have 6 months left to travel but is this a hard rule and for all countries? Say mine expires in April 2024 and in December I want to go to.... Portugal for a long weekend, would they let me?

Anyway, the government website says 3 weeks:

Processing times in the UK

You’ll usually get your passport within 3 weeks from when we receive your documents.

It may take longer than 3 weeks if we need more information, or we need to interview you. We’ll tell you this within 3 weeks.

There are different turnaround times if you’re applying from another country.

Hopefully it's even quicker - like Bob Orange's info.

After watching international football for decades I’ve just realised I have no recollection of ever recognising the Italian anthem before.

Plus, the number of players, not just football, that still sing God Save the Queen.
