Something actually trivial but I'm amazed how many people don't understand "Spaghetti Bolognese". I keep seeing photos of peoples dinners saying "Ohh made spag bol for tea" and its fucking make with fusilli pasta. Its called SPAGHETTI for a reason!
Same goes for shepherds/cottage pie.

This is true, because if you told some people how traditional Bolognese is made they'd run a mile. I think its the milk/cream that freaks people out.

I find a wonderful irony in an "english patriot" (you know the types) proclaiming they love a certain dish and nearly every time it is from another country. I particularly like this with regards to "Fish 'n' Chips". Kind of like the whole "St.George" love in

Just tucking into a home made beef jalfrezi. My old chap would be proud of me. Unlike the recipe I added dark crispy caramelised opinions like he did. A few cardamom pods boiling with the rice for an extra dimension and some natural yoghurt to cool the inside of my chops. Phew.

Nothing wrong in being proud of your background. I'm proud to be 59% English doesn't mean I don't like Mediterranean food or the odd curry?

Do you criticise any nationality that has patriotic tendencies or just the English. Nothing wrong in being proud of your background. I'm proud to be 59% English doesn't mean I don't like Mediterranean food or the odd curry? I have no problem with genuine patriotism. If you care to look/read back you will see I inserted inverted commas and a bracketed statement, referring to certain types of "patriot". Not people who genuinely are good natured and proud of their country but I'm talking EDL, BF, NF, supporting types who like to masquerade under a thin veil of "patriotism"; in order to go about spewing their main agenda of hating anyone or anything different. The irony then is that considering how "patriotic" they are, they don't seem to realise (in an English example) the origin of St. George or Fish n Chips but will gladly try and claim it as being "theirs". It's that part I find as said 'a wonderful irony'. Absolutely, would criticise the same attitude elsewhere. I think you missed the point 4D. Get off your horse and drink your milk. I'll be at base camp around 6pm. See you there

A double irony. Loves a "curry" in blighty but craves a "Full English" when in Cyprus. Glad to see you totally got where I was coming from.

Strangely the last time I felt truly proud of my country was listening to Adam Buxton's podcast with Hakad Assad where he described the humanity and decency he was shown when he arrived seeking asylum in this country.
I suppose different people find different reasons to claim they love their country. Some of us can do it without a flag in our twitter profile.
