There's nothing else I could use. I'd even brewed it A whole carton mysteriously emptied overnight

I've become accustomed to using coffee mate instead of milk.
Not in tea surely...ergh

Yep So many places out here don't offer milk so I'm left with no choice. It's actually not bad once you get used to it.

I thought it was bad enough that the nearest shop is an hour to walk there and back or it costs me a tenner to take the bus into town. At least I can get hold of some.

Buying milk is not a problem.
I'm talking about in Thai style restaurants and stuff, they just don't use it. Order a cup of tea and you will often get a small cup of hot-ish water with a tea bag in it and sugar and coffee mate sachets.

50 NOK for a 15 minute bus ride. Still cheaper than a beer.

No milk for tea when I got up. I feel unable to function.
Empathy Sloth does not think you worthy of empathy but pity, man up and drink it without milk.

I've never been charged for taking kids out of holidays. I'm taking my two to Orlando in October, through the half term but also using 4 days of school time. Let them know in advance, make sure you offer to support them doing extra work if need be and it seems to go down fine.
For the theme parks, we went to Alton Towers in July for 3 days, not all schools had broken up as they are generally staggered over a week around the country, so either end of the holiday you should find a weekday where they are quiet.
To be fair, the school my children attend have always been fine with holidays with advance notice. My two missed the last couple of days before the summer holidays and last year they missed 6 days when we went to Orlando across the May holiday week. However, we had a lengthy letter sent home just before they broke up saying that the policy will be changing for all schools across Swindon in September and effectively no absences will be authorised in term time except in exceptional circumstances. If you remove your child without this authorisation, charges will apply per child, per parent. I have to be honest, I haven't looked into detail as to what the charges are and what is classed as exceptional circumstances.
