Scooter ramp the kids had as a joint Christmas present has been broken already by one of my eldest son's friends. I'm slightly more than mildly annoyed to be honest, especially since said child has a bigger and better one himself!

Do what we did as kids - piece of wood / board and a few house bricks.

When I was younger, so much younger than today we had a bike ramp in the street.
It was basically a plank of wood and some bricks. Anyway the neighbours called the police because apparently we were blocking the road (we werent and moved it anytime a car was around) and they police went and took it.

This will probably be unpopular, but I've seen a few instances of people trying to raise money for Charity by not drinking in January.
I know all fund raising is good, and I'm not complaining at the ends, but it strikes me as a little odd. I'd always thought 'self-challenge' fund raising was supposed to be involving things that are out of the ordinary or a physical challenge. Soon we'll have people trying to get money for dieting

No Beer January is an annual event for me now. I did it sporadically for a few years, but have been doing it every year for the last 5 or 6. Never occurred to me that I could get paid for doing it. Have I been missing a trick?

This. A chap I work with is doing a "dryathlon" and asking for sponsorship. Really? I don't wont to be tight but actually do something thats worthwhile to sponsor and not just stop buying alcohol.
