Hurrah for jobsworths! Their complete clipboard-waving inflexibility in the face of any event no matter how ridiculous is the stuff this great nation was built on. Or at least the stuff a load of "why oh why" articles sufficient to cloud out any volcanic ash was built on. What price the Mail or the Express finding some reason this is the EU's/Health and Safety/"the PC Brigade"'s/Polish immigrants' fault?

You'd be unlucky for it to still be going on by Wednesday.

Flight cancelled for Wednesday.

Good news: The volcano seems to be slowing down.

Bad news: The other bigger one (Hekla) has just started erupting.

What's the difference between Sheryl Cole and an Icelandic volcano?

The Icelandic volcano is still blowing ash.

De-de-le-dum Tsch Cool

I actually think it says something about Society that I have not seen one single solitary report about how this has affected Iceland itself or how the people are coping there. It's all about Gary Lineker getting back from Tenerife and almost missing Match of the Day and John Cleese getting a taxi from Norway to Belgium and so on Roll Eyes

Very true. A quick Google search comes up with some stories about the threat to Iceland's animals and an article on how it's affecting Kenya's flower industry, but these are totally overshadowed by stories about Chris Moyles, Nick Clegg's children, and efforts to 'rescue' all those stranded in lovely holiday resorts.

To be fair though, those Icelandic fuckers owe us billions and are refusing to cough up.

I had to laugh watching the news, one of the families they talked to who had just gone through a 30 hour journey (via taxi, push bike, train, camel, boat and piggy back) to get back the UK had been on a volcano sight seeing holiday.
