I actually think it says something about Society that I have not seen one single solitary report about how this has affected Iceland itself or how the people are coping there. It's all about Gary Lineker getting back from Tenerife and almost missing Match of the Day and John Cleese getting a taxi from Norway to Belgium and so on

Very true. A quick Google search comes up with some stories about the threat to Iceland's animals and an article on how it's affecting Kenya's flower industry, but these are totally overshadowed by stories about Chris Moyles, Nick Clegg's children, and efforts to 'rescue' all those stranded in lovely holiday resorts.

To be fair though, those Icelandic fuckers owe us billions and are refusing to cough up.

I had to laugh watching the news, one of the families they talked to who had just gone through a 30 hour journey (via taxi, push bike, train, camel, boat and piggy back) to get back the UK had been on a volcano sight seeing holiday.
