It's surprising, really, that they're not doing more ... although as Mike Bawden pointed out they are a "public" company (although I thought they were limited ...) it does the council no harm to at least support them. I'm not suggesting they give them land, but developing a stadium in partnership with the club where they share the spoils is going to help both parties enourmously. They are a public limited company Chris!!!! The population of Swindon is expected to grow by up to 35,000 over the next 20 years. :jaw1: This could mean a bigger town centre and a great big fan base when all these little kiddies grow up in Swindon, providing we still have a club that could be great news for both the town and the club.

A ground in partnership is the path we should have gone down, unfortunately, with a developer in tow, we don't want to share the spoils too much, so the Council has little to gain from the development besides cold hard cash from the land sale. Something in partnership with them would have put far more pressure on the planning process in our favour I feel.

Still I wonder why they chose to even acknowledge the existence of an FC.......its up to people like us to bombard these Councillors with constant reminders as to why an FC is a crucial part of the towns cultural heritage, that needs looking after.
Yes, yes, yes, yes - YES!!! On the whole Councillors try to do the best to represent local people. So when / if the club does submit plans to the Council (presuming you like the plans!) let Councillors know why they should support them. You can get all the Councillors details from www.swindon.gov.ukAs I have said many times, I personally am keen to see it work because not only does it help the footy club (and I like footy), but in my opinion it will help the town. (Improves the County Ground site etc). When anything progresses I;ll remind you to start lobbying

Reg mate, during the Shaw application, Councillors received 3 e-mails of support for the scheme, and hundreds in opposition. (Plus huge petitions, and hundreds turned up at the Council on the night of the vote.)
Unsuprisingly those who had not made their mind up voted against the plans.
I am sorry if it is boring for me to give you some advice - I am only trying to help!
