.....Hello squire, i shall be in Ex-eater Thursday and Friday nites, visitin' a friend (female) who goes to Uni there. What are the pubs/clubs like in that neck of the woods? I'm sure my friend will tell me, but i would like to look like a smart-arse by knowing all the decent places Cool

Also, whats the beach like? Its not one of those pebble-y beaches is it?

Your time and help is very much appreciated on this matter   :kisskiss:  :arsekisser:  :fag:

Well Thursday night is student night in most clubs, the main 3 are Voltz, Arena and Warehouse. Warehouse and Voltz are down on the quay. To be honest all are pretty similar and not that great.

Warehouse is down by the quay. It is split into 3 floors - sort of seperate bars, each playing different music styles - Cheesy RnB/Hiphop, Cheesy Generic Pop and Cheesy Dance I think. Been a while since I've been there. Annoyingly they try and stop you taking drinks between bars/floors. Last time I went bottles of grolsch and reef were less than £2 (£1.60-£180 I think, but not certain).

Voltz is also down by the quay.  It's smaller than Warehouse but pretty similar. Only 2 floors. Different music in each and they let you wander with your drinks. Not much else to say about it.

Arena's up on the other side of town. One big area seperate bars on 3 walls, dance floor in middle. Think they do coctails for £1 - but alcoholic content is a bit questionable. Pints of castlemaine might also be cheap. They will also serve you snakebite.

To be honest all the clubs are pretty crap. You have to be pretty hammered to cope with them.

Fridays are not very studenty. All the locals come out and everywhere puts is prices up. There is the student campus club 'the lemmy' but it's dead on fridays as everyone goes on the saturday.

You might always check out 'the cavern' which is the local rock club. Can't remember much about it to be fair. Only been a few times - like to go more but never get round to it.

Also Timepiece which has a bar downstairs and club upstairs - Club Probably dead on Thursday though and queues can be a nightmare. Might be indie night on friday, but I think it's only everyother friday so probably a 50/50 chance.

There's a few bars about, they'll be open past 11 on the friday, but only till about 12 or 1. You've got walkabout which is the same as it is everywhere else. Your lady might be able to get snakebites for £1.50 with a student card there - cheap way of getting battered. Theres a 'Hogshead' couple of doors down aswell.

Other bars dotted around there's:
Chumleys - don't go their, they gave me half a fiver in my change once didn't notice till my mate got the other half, been boycotting it sinse
Three Fat Fish - can't remember much about this place
Butlers - ditto
Amber Rooms - Does lots of fancy coctails
Others around like Zephyr rooms and Splash.

Lots of pubs around for during the day, early evening.
The Vic (towards campus) - pretty good for food, does massive pizzas and breakfasts. quite studenty.

Brooke Green(opposite my house) - pretty standard pub, mix of students and locals. Don't know what foods like past the sandwiches behind the bar. Think Thursdays they have a wetherspoon style Curry night. Curry and pint for £5.50. Never got round to trying it though so difficult to reccomend.

Bowling Green. - food sposed to be good.

Old Fire House - Sometimes has music. enclosed sort of garden off the road. Think it was Will Youngs favorite pub so it must me mega cool.

Thirsty Camel - used to be awesome, 30p shots etc. But Owner lost liscence and it's just a standard pub now.

Strikers - Funny little place with pool table.

The Ram - student bar on campus. £1.60 for Carling £2.10 for stella.

er.. lots of pubs around the town centre - the ship(does food), turks head(bit of a dive)

and a few near the train station - The Jolly Porter, Artful Dodger.
Oh theres a v.big wetherspoons near the station called the imperial (impy).

Nearest beach is exmouth I think. Wierdly in the 3 years I've been here I've gone once. think it's sandy.

Pretty sure I've missed something obvious. I might be out on thursday if I can find some money. Finish my exams tomorrow.

Oh and if you are at the right end of time at the end of the night, then you have to get a kebab from raj. Raj is the greatest place on earth.

I've even eaten a raj when sober

Exmouth beach is very fine.....a long wide strand of sand.

I  saw All Saints Oops  on it about 2000 at the Radio One Roadshow, the binoculars I had for my birdwatching on the Exe came in useful....as they were quite fit.
