The fact is there is a recession on (apparently Swindon is the worst affected town in the UK), and it is not cheap to go away.People will choose which games they want to go to, as proved when we took over 2,000 to Brentford. Orient, Southampton and Leeds will be popular, and I can see us taking quite a few to Millwall on our last game of the season.

This year? We only took 1200 to Brentford. I do think we'll take decent followings to Orient, Southampton and Leeds though as you say. And unless we've really messed it up by thw time May comes around, we could even sell out the away end at Millwall. We'll probably sell out the away end at Wycombe too.

I dont know whether the away support woruld improve in the Championship. You get the same old 'new ground' thing for a couple of years.

Bristol City looked like they took less fans to Sheffield United than we took to Huddersfield. If anyone wants to take comfort from that?

Its a shame. Would be nice if the football league took some steps to encourage away supporters. But the way you get treated by stewards at some grounds I would say the opposite is true.

I like the idea of promoting away support but when it comes to thinking of practical ways to achieve this its very difficult

And who is going to pay the train companies to put that on? The Football League can't afford it.

I think the special offers tend to be "Get X free when you travel to Y by train", rather than "Get cheap train tickets when you go to Z". There is an incentive for the train companies there because they lose no money on tickets and may get extra passengers. If your suggestion could work it would be great, I'm just not sure anybody would be willing to finance it.

Away teams used to get a percentage share of the gate in FL games? Train travel is scandalously expensive in this country, an absolute disgrace to the last 20 years of UK governments.

Another factor (excuse whatever) is that quite a few people I know are keen on the snapping up the Town End offer. When you can get a season ticket for £200 or go away for £60 (minimum), the sums dont add up.

I haven't seen the comment, but bar a few games in recent seasons, our support has been fairly shit away. In numbers it has anyway, but we always seem to make a decent bit of noise.

I mean, didn't we take 500 to Rovers in 2008? I know it was a tuesday and nothing to play for, but when they came here at the end of last season they had around 2000, whereas we took 1200 (I think) to theirs last season.

I don't know if it will improve, I think Wycombe is certain to sell out, as we did in League 2 on a tuesday and the end of 03/04. Not sure how many we'll take to Orient and Leeds, I expect around 1000 max at Orient and no more than 1200 at Leeds.

It's annoying that Southampton and Franchise are on a tuesday night, but would of thought there would be around 1000 at each of them. Millwall on the last day is hard to predict, I hope we don't have to go their needing anything, as that will be very difficult.

when we took over 2,000 to Brentford.

1.   According to the STFC programme, Town took 1,244 away to Brentford this season.

2.   You are very cheeky to use a name similar to mine.

3.   When STFC played Huddersfield in 2006 in Ibiza to win the Copa Ibiza. Town had approx 30 fans. Udders had about 150 (there are reasons for this which I can expand on if anyone is interested).

4.   I have a teamsheet from the above game (extremely rare) which I am willing to sell so that I can go to the away games at Wimbledon, Brighton & Southampton. Any offers?

Since I had my user name before you, surely it's a version of mine...which makes you the 'cheeky' one !!!
