A subject very close to my heart. Any football club - and especially ours - belongs at the centre of the community it serves...and not relegated to a peripheral site next to a sewerage treatment plant etc.
1. How did you travel to the County Ground today? By train. 2. Why did you choose this mode of transport? Travel in from out of town. Ground and pub both walkable from Swindon station. Enjoying a few pre- & post-match beers with friends is an integral part of my day out. 3. Did the location of the County Ground within Swindon affect your decision? If yes, how? Yes. Please see (2) above. 4. How regularly do you attend Swindon home games? (0-5 a season, 6-15, Season Ticket Holder) At the moment, due to having young family, 0-5 per season. 5. Do you think the County Ground is easily accessible by; 5a Car Yes/No If not, why? Yes. 5b Bus Yes/No If not, why? Yes. 5c Train Yes/No If not, why? Yes. 5d Walking/Cycling Yes/No If not, why? Yes. 6. What were your pre-match activities: Short visit to pubwith friends. 7. What were your post match activities: Slightly longer visit to pub with friends. 8. Where do you live? (Postcode please) GU14 9. Do you travel to away games? If yes, how did you travel to your last away game? Yes. By train. 10. Why did you choose this mode of transport? See answer to (2) above. 11. Did the location of the stadium within the town/city effect your decision? If yes, how? Yes. Last away game was Brentford, which was also easily accessible by public transport. 12. How regularly do you attend away games? (0-5 a season, 6-15, 16+) 0-5 per season. 13. Occupation? Accountant. 14. How do you normally travel to work? Train & Underground. 15. Do you own a car? Yes. 16. Do you recycle? Yes. 17. Age (18-30, 31-45, 46-60, 61+) 31-45 18. Sex Male

Hello Town fans. I am a new member of the forum as of today! I am a Swindon fan in my final year studying Geography at Plymouth University. My dissertation is looking at how stadium location within a town/city affects the transport decisions of supporters attending games at that stadium. My basic hypothesis being that city centre stadiums (Home Park, Plymouth and the County Ground, Swindon in this study) will encourage 'greener' transport use than edge of city stadiums (Majedski Stadium, Reading and Kassam Stadium, Oxford in this study) because of their centrality in the city and proximity to public transport hubs (i.e. Bus and Train stations). If you could take just a few minutes to answer the questions below as a reply to this post, it would be a massive help. Answer the questions as if you were answering them at the last home game you attended. I have numbered the questions to make responding easier. 1. How did you travel to the County Ground today? - Car 2. Why did you choose this mode of transport? - Only convenient way of doing the 50 miles 3. Did the location of the County Ground within Swindon affect your decision? If yes, how? - No 4. How regularly do you attend Swindon home games? (0-5 a season, 6-15, Season Ticket Holder) - STH 5. Do you think the County Ground is easily accessible by; 5a Car Yes/No - Yes 5b Bus Yes/No - No Idea as i don't use it 5c Train Yes/No - Yes 5d Walking/Cycling - No Idea as i don't do it 6. What were your pre-match activities: - Lunch, Pint 7. What were your post match activities: - Drive Hoime 8. Where do you live? (Postcode please) BS48 9. Do you travel to away games? If yes, how did you travel to your last away game? Yes by Train 10. Why did you choose this mode of transport? - It was easier to get to Fulham 11. Did the location of the stadium within the town/city effect your decision? If yes, how? 12. How regularly do you attend away games? (0-5 a season, 6-15, 16+) - Less than 5 13. Occupation? - System Test Analyst 14. How do you normally travel to work? - Car 15. Do you own a car? - Yes 16. Do you recycle? - Yes 17. Age (18-30, 31-45, 46-60, 61+) - 46 - 60 18. Sex - Male I appreciate that respondents may find some answers (postcode, occupation, etc) too personal to post online so feel free to send it by email to my address which is dphunt88@hotmail.co.uk. Thank you very much for taking the time to respond and if you havent then have a nice day anyway!

Note that I think your away game responses might be somewhat skewed by our last match being Fulham. It's a no-brainer to take the train and tube really (or the coach). If you had asked after a game against Brighton or Stockport you would probably have very different answers.
