Who was it who said something along the lines of "if you're going to talk the talk you have to walk the walk"
Egg -> Face
That was Fred.

Not really. If you have a very average first game then demand to be played next game you deserve the criticism. Thankfully he got better

Charlie Austin is more like Steve White than Simon Cox, and that is a massive compliment. I do agree though that he scores the same kind of goals that Parkin did.

Wayne Rooney is a million times better than Emile Heskey, yet they are different types of player. But fuck it, why can't we compare.
It would be different if we were comparing a defender with a striker.

Didn't Wilson say originally that it would be the New Year before Austin was ready for the first team, to build upp his fitness and get him used to the League One level? I wonder if that still holds true, in that Wilson thinks he needs a month or so to really be 100%?
I reckon there has been a massive improvement already. He's lasting 90 minutes now, doesn't seem to be getting pushed around by defenders and his movement is getting better.
Anyone know if he used to score any from distance for Poole Town? I think he's had one shot from outside the area, the aim was ok but by 6 year old nephew could have hit it harder. Again, maybe he just needs building up a bit.
I know its early days but its difficult to not get excited by Austin, he seems to have the potential to be better than Cox. I'm already getting concerned that we might not be able to hold on to him in the summer.

I don't think there's much more to come from him just yet - he's just adapted much more quickly than anybody expected. Over time I'm sure he'll benefit from the coaching and being in the professional environment, and he's bound to improve over time what with still being very young, but I think we've seen exactly what he has to offer already.

On reflection, my post may seem mildly racist. I apologise, it was ok 20 years ago.

Errrm. Which post exactly ? Or do you have a low guilt-complex threshold ?

I said I could compare Heskey to Rooney even though they were different types of players. Of course, I was not making any racial reference but my subsequent post was tongue in cheek.

A Charlie Austen goal feels better than one scored by somebody else. Already. I like to think it's because he's young, he's Swindon and he cares, but it could equally be the fact that he specialises in scoring winners! It's getting increasingly difficult to keep my hopes in check...

I think part of the reason we enjoy Charlie Austin goals more is the celebrations.
Nothing cocky, nothing arrogant, nothing planned - just a young lad running around like a loon jumping up and down and punching the air!
